Coastal tour of Sardinia

Coastal tour of Sardinia

This eight day itinerary gives an idea of the locations and activities that could be enjoyed in the north of Sardinia including the Costa Smeralda, Alghero and the Archipelago of La Maddalena.
Day 1
Met on arrival at Olbia airport you are driven to your choice of accommodation in the Costa Smeralda. After some relaxing time by the pool or on the private beach you have time to visit Porto Cervo to view its wonderful marina and designer boutiques before dinner.
Day 2
A day to appreciate the beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters of the Costa Smeralda followed by cocktails on the terrace and a chance to savour Sardinia's gastronomic delights.
Day 3
Your hire car is delivered to the hotel ready to explore the Costa Smeralda. There are too many beautiful coastal towns to list but we suggest Porto Rotondo, a haven for the rich and smart set in the evening as well as the day. Santa Teresa di Gallura a wonderful Italian seaside resort. Porto Rafael which is an idyllic haven. San Pantaleo a village close to Porto Cervo with a strong tradition of art and crafts.
Day 4
A cruise on a traditional sailing boat to the Archipelago of La Maddalena to visit the island of Maddalena together with the other five islands, including Budelli with its famous Spiagga Rosa (Pink Beach). Time to swim in the crystal waters and enjoy lunch with wine on board (see video).
Day 5
A drive across to the N E of the island to Alghero with its strong Spanish influence, including a Catalan dialect and traditions. Attractions include the old town 'Ciutat Vella', San Michele church, Santa Marina Cathedral and the fortresses. An overnight stay provides an opportunity to sample the region's cuisine.
Day 6
A chance to visit Alghero's beautiful beaches, including Spiagga di San Giovanni and Spiagga di Maria Pia and the famous Grotto di Nettuno below Capo Caccia headlands (654 steps or take a boat). Drive along the spectacular 30 mile coast road between Alghero and Bosa with breath taking views and colonies of griffon vultures before returning to Porto Cervo in time for dinner.
Day 7
A chance to sunbathe and swim in one of the secluded coves you discovered during your travels and to survive on a hamper of local produce. In the evening you mix with the other celebrities in Porto Cervo's infamous piazza before sitting down to an exquisite dinner.
Day 8
A good breakfast before your drive back to Olbia airport and another opportunity to memorise the beauty of this island.
